iAdapt requires compatible SRC Bluetooth Low Energy hardware and Bluetooth permission. Without a connected device, live readings and device controls are unavailable. Follow the instructions supplied with your hardware.

Clothing that changes

Soft robotics meets breathable textile engineering.
Developed by a PolyU team led by Prof. Dahua Shou with HKRITA support, iAdapt uses an inflatable soft robotic structure to vary the air gap inside a garment. Programmable inflation and deflation adjust insulation and heat-and-moisture transport as conditions change.
Sensor-guided thermal management and an app interface allow wearers to monitor and adjust settings. The project received Gold in the Consumer Solutions category at the 2026 Edison Awards.
